Lesson #1: He took responsibility.

King Josiah stepped into leadership at a time when Judah and its people were knee-deep in Idolatry, wickedness, and spiritual starvation. He understood that he was in a position to do something about the status quo.

To many others, idolatry had become a cultural norm. To him, it remained evil regardless of how long it has been practiced or normalized.

In the eighteenth year of His reign, he put three men in charge of the temple repairs. More fascinating is that everyone involved in this task took full ownership of it. From his appointees to the workers, everyone executed their role with honesty and skill.

We see Josiah practice steward delegation in yet another event. As King Josiah reawakened the Jewish tradition of celebrating the Passover, he assigned duties to the Priests and Levites and also encouraged them to execute their duties in accordance with the law of Moses(2 Chr 35:2).
