Submission to God is a fundamental aspect of Christian devotion that must be learned to have a successful Christian life. To make matters a bit dicey, It isn’t a practice that comes naturally considering the fallen nature of Man.

After the fall, Man naturally wants to rebel against God rather than partner with Him. But since as Christians, we have a new heart, Calling, and life in Christ, we must walk in submission just like Jesus did.

It is a constant, daily decision to make. It doesn’t just involve the big choice to accept Jesus during our conversion but also choosing him each day of our lives across the different situations we face on Earth.

Understanding Submission

  • Beyond Obedience: Submission goes beyond simply following rules. It’s about aligning your will with God’s, embracing His purpose, and allowing His Spirit to guide your life.
  • Active Engagement: Submission is an active engagement with God’s word and a willingness to be transformed by His Spirit. It involves seeking His guidance through prayer, discerning His will, and aligning your actions with His purpose.
  • Discovering True Identity: Submission is not about losing your identity; it’s about discovering your true identity in Christ. It’s about recognizing that you are a vessel for His purpose, called to participate in His kingdom work.

Practical Applications of Submission

  • Living in the Name of Jesus: Function in the name of Jesus as your identity, recognizing the power and authority it grants.
  • Embracing the Power of the Holy Spirit: Allow the Holy Spirit to touch and guide you, just as it did Mary.
  • Imitating Jesus: See Jesus as the example of what is possible through faith and follow His lead.
  • Discerning God’s Will: Learn to discern God’s will through prayer and study of His word.
  • Faith and Patience: Have faith and patience, knowing that God’s promises will be fulfilled in His time.

Bringing it all together.

Ultimately, submission to God is a journey of faith, a commitment to living a life that reflects His love and purpose.

It’s a journey that requires humility, surrender, and a willingness to be transformed by His grace. This journey involves embracing the power of the Holy Spirit, discerning God’s will, and aligning your actions with His purpose.
