  • Teenage years can be difficult for teenagers as they tend to come with many challenges. According to Pew Research, major problems teenagers face are anxiety, stress, and peer pressure.

    In navigating the complexities of adolescence, one resourceful solution to consult is The Bible. The Bible offers guidance and wisdom for dealing with peer pressure, anxiety, poor relationships, and insecurities.

    In this article, I have compiled several Bible verses for common teenage problems. Some of these verses have personally helped me (and still do) in the face of these life challenges.

    Bible verses for Dealing with Peer Pressure.

    Peer pressure as a teenage problem

    Peer pressure can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can spur you into your life’s aspirations, which is a goal for good steward leaders. On the other, it often leads to poor decisions and negative behaviors among teenagers.

    The Bible offers wisdom and encouragement for dealing with this challenge. Overcome negative peer pressure with scripture.

    Proverbs 1:10

    “My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.”

    This verse encourages teenagers to resist the temptation to conform to negative behaviors and instead, to stand firm in their convictions.

    Galatians 1:10

    “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of God.”

    This verse reminds teenagers that they should seek to please God, rather than their peers, and to prioritize their relationship with Him above all else.

    This verse warns against the negative influence of bad company, encouraging teenagers to choose friends who will build them up in their faith.

    James 4:4

    “You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

    “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”

    This verse reminds teenagers to avoid participating in negative behaviors and instead, to shine a light on the darkness, exposing it for what it is.
